JOHN RICO
Freelance Writer
John Rico went to war in Afghanistan with the 2nd batallion, fifth infantry where he earned a few medals of forgettable and pedestrian distinguish. Upon his return to America, he authored the cult-classic Blood Makes the Grass Grow Green. Since then, he's written for publications as diverse as Penthouse, GQ, and Men's Journal - where, among other assignments, he's gone undercover into the U.S. Army's CONUS replacement center, interviewed mercenaries in Nepal, embedded himself with vigilantes in the southwestern U.S. desert, snuck across the border from Mexico into America, and raced across the Earth as part of the Mongol Rally.
He travels extensively, having visited some fifty countries, and has worked as a social worker, a security guard, a probation officer, and a forklift driver in Antarctica. He holds dual Master's degrees in Criminal Justice and Political Science and currently lives in London, England where he works along side the Metropolitan Police on a gang intervention unit. He spends his free time researching cults, religion, and serial killers.
Even though he doesn't write full-time, he has this site as he feels obliged to do so in this era of social networking.
